Love, Live, Texas Sign

Howdy, If you're a Texan than you know we love our state. Where else can you see the state flag proudly displayed in homes and on cars? I've seen a lot of cute Texas signs recently so I decided to make my own. I'm originally from Chicago and have to admit, it took a while to adjust to the change in lifestyle and lack of family here.  Now I'm a Texan through and through.

My living room has a lot of Texas decor and I originally intended this sign to be hung there. After it was finished, I decided that it would look a lot better in our office.

This project was made using letter stencils, a wooden Texas cutout, and wooden art frame.  I found the wooden Texas shape at a local craft store. The frame was from Goodwill and I paid about $2.00 for it.  You can customize this project to reflect any state.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks project! Hope to see you back next week.

DIY Coasters

This project is so easy you could probably do it in 5 minutes or less.

While I was at Michael's, I found some cork board coasters for only a couple of dollars.  I decided a little paint could spice them up.  I had bird and tree stencils from a prior project and decided to stencil them on the coasters with light blue paint.

Here are the materials I used...

The package included 4 coasters so I stenciled 2 birds and 2 tree designs.

These coasters look great with my chalkboard wine glasses. See the tutorial for those here.

I love how these turned out and the possibilities are endless. I would love to make some monogram ones in the future.

Happy Valentines week! I’ve never really been a fan of Valentine’s day. I feel like it makes single folks feel like the odd man out. And no, I’m not single, no animosity here.
I got these keys on Amazon. Click here to see them.

I Sent Buddy A Birthday Card... You should to!

Happy Friday! I read this story on Yahoo recently about a terminally Ill child named Buddy.  His 9th birthday is coming up on February 11th and all he wants is to get letters and stickers in the mail.  He could have wished for a trip to Disney, or to meet a celebrity, but his request is simple- to get mail.  As a fellow mail lover I felt the need to participate.

So... I made him the cards below. They are made with love and I hope to make his 9th birthday the best ever! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!!!!

Read his story here.

Send him a card:

Love Birds Banner

I’m back in action! My mother was in the ICU for two weeks with liver and kidney failure.  She has improved immensely and will be back home in the next day or two.  Having a sick parent really puts priorities into prospective and family always comes first.  I can finally breath a sigh of relief, so I’m back to doing what I love creating & blogging<3.

I enjoy making banners so I figured I’d make one that could be used for Valentines Day, engagement parties, or weddings.

For this project you will need:
-5 Burlap 5x5 squares
-White paint
-Black paint
-Letter stencils
-Bird stencil
-Bird cut outs (I got mine from Michael's)

Simply use white paint and stencils to create the words love on the 5x5 squares.

I made the bird decals using a bird stencil and black paint.

I got these bird cut outs from Michael's for around $1-$2 for 6.
